ITV boss Kevin Lygo has shared some new Emmerdale teasers ahead of the show's Christmas episodes.

The broadcaster's director of television named Priya Kotecha, Al Chapman and Kim Tate as ones to watch as he discussed future storylines today (November 11).

Emmerdale and Coronation Street will both be airing big episodes on Christmas Day as highlights of the festive schedules.

Speaking today, Lygo commented: "As ever, Christmas is always a dramatic time in Soapland and we'll have Coronation Street and Emmerdale at the centrepiece of our seasonal offerings.

"On Emmerdale, Priya is loved-up and excited about her future, but Al seems distracted by someone away from the village.

"Kim Tate [also] makes her dramatic return."

Lygo also mentioned the emotional new storyline for Jai Sharma and Laurel Thomas, which will be airing in the run-up to Christmas.

The ITV soap has confirmed that upcoming scenes see Jai and Laurel discover that they're expecting a baby together. When they later find out that their child will be born with Down's syndrome, they have some difficult conversations and ultimately decide to terminate the pregnancy.
