In tonight's episode of Emmerdale, it is the day before Moira's operation and while she is trying to get things in order if she dies and puts on a brave face, little does she know that she is pushing Cain further into self-destruction.

Since arriving home yesterday where she saw Cain arguing with Sam, Moira is trying to make sure everything will continue as normal in everyone's life and hide her own fears of going 'under the knife' as she predicts she won't be coming home after the operation.

However, despite her good intentions, she is causing more problems and upset as she takes her sons out of school for a special lunch and afterwards tries to speak to Cain about her will but it turns into an argument as he ends up storming out of the house. Fearing that the family will fall apart if she dies, she goes to Chas to insist that they follow her plan in her will - but Chas, like everyone else, is trying to stay positive and tries to reassure her the operation will go well but it falls on deaf ears as Moira begs her to listen.

Elsewhere, Caleb and Ruby are worrying about Steph's absence after appearing in the village last week, but they do not have to worry for long as when speaking to Chas, Caleb spots Steph outside the B&B with Ross after sleeping together the following night. Chas tells Caleb that he is bad news after presuming Steph brought him to the village and not knowing he is a resident. Not knowing that they are being watched Ross and Steph say goodbye after their night together and tease each other about another.

Later on, Caleb returns home after claiming he could not work and tells Ruby they need to sort things with Steph, however, she appears at the house to which she gives her address to her parents where she intends to wait for her inheritance but is persuaded to stay around in the village as her dad offers her to become a partner at his company. Jai then returns to the factory to take up the job offer but is soon interrupted by Ross who asks for a job to which he is denied after hearing Chas’ warning about him earlier. The pair are then told that Steph is going to join as a partner in the business.

Not liking being played - Jai spots Ross in the pub and the pair come up with a plan to get Caleb back along with Jai’s money that he stole.

Meanwhile, at the café, Ruby thinks she is finally getting back on track with her daughter, Steph as they talk about their past but it is soon put in jeopardy as she then tells her to “not get mad” as Ruby’s dad turns up beside them. Feeling backed into a corner, Ruby is once told that she was a bad man and they go through why he left her mam to which he says she was “impossible to live with” - not wanting to hear anymore she leaves and heads home to drink her sorrows with red wine.

Caleb spots Ruby’s dad in the village as they exchanged words and while being warned to leave Ruby alone, Caleb accepts his present for Ruby and promises to return to the village tomorrow.
