Emmerdale star Daisy Campbell has revealed that there will be an unexpected return to the village as her 'really upsetting' exit takes place.

The actress joined the iconic soap as a child at just eight-years-old playing Amelia Spencer but back in October, Daisy, now 21, revealed she was set to say an emotional goodbye to the Dales before the festive period after 13 years on screen.

She said at the time: "It wasn't my choice to leave Emmerdale and it was a shock at first. Being in Emmerdale is all I have ever known. I've spent the whole of my childhood growing up in the soap and it felt daunting."

Now, speaking to the Manchester Evening News and other press, while Daisy admitted to still being sad about leaving the ITV soap as she revealed how Amelia will officially leave the village behind.

She shared: "I end up going to live back with Daz [Spencer] in Leicester. We had a scene where I say, ‘I'm off to move to Leicester with Esther’ [laughter] and I end up moving back with Daz which is nice. He comes back for one episode, which is lovely."

Daisy told how it was "emotional" filming with her co-star again, especially with this being her exit. She said: "The first week was really emotional, because Mark Jordon who plays Daz came back. It was lovely to see him again but that was really emotional and whenever I work with Laura [Norton], who plays Kerry Wyatt, she's so good at doing emotions, the way she cries, I cry.

"But then the second week, I think I was used to it, because I was really dreading my last block, because I hate crying in front of people unless it's for a scene. So, I was like, ‘uhh!’, but my last week just felt fine. I didn't really cry that much. I was actually proud of myself. I was like, ‘Oh, I've not got teary ones this week.’ But yeah, it was emotional, really emotional."

Speaking about how it feels to be leaving the show, the soap star said: "Oh, it feels really sad. It's mixed emotions really I think. It’s been such a tough year, and I've had to deal with so much, but I was so at peace when leaving because I've grieved through… because I'm not only grieving for myself, it's a character that I've always played.

"This was my first ever job from being seven, so it felt really sad, but then it was nice to close the door and be at peace, because I've just allowed it to play out as it has this year. But yeah, it's really upsetting, because it's all I've ever known, but I mean new things and maybe new parts next year. Who knows? But yeah, it's been sad. It's been really sad."
