Belle Dingle was left stunned when Tom King dropped a bombshell on her in Friday's (June 7) episode of Emmerdale. Belle had recently spent time away from the village at a mental health unit, confiding in a professional about her feelings, while Tom grew increasingly paranoid back home, fearing his wife might expose his abusive behaviour.

In a twisted attempt to regain control over Belle, who is played by Eden Taylor-Draper, Tom hatched a plan that involved poisoning Piper the dog. He believed that if Belle knew Piper was unwell, she would return home and his plan worked.

In tonight's episode, we briefly saw Belle amidst scenes focusing on the aftermath of Matty (Ash Palmisciano) accidentally stabbing Samson (Sam Hall). As Belle stepped outside, Jai (Chris Bisson) approached her for an update on Matty.

Belle appeared confused, and when Jai noticed this, she revealed that her car had vanished. Assuming it had been stolen, Belle was about to call the police when Tom intervened.

In front of a bewildered Jai, Tom told Belle they had previously discussed selling her car. A visibly uncertain Belle was quickly ushered inside by Tom before Jai could respond.

Despite trying to voice her thoughts on Tom's sudden decision, Belle sadly didn't get very far. Tom suggested they could utilise the winnings for their impending holiday. Belle, wary of provoking her husband's volatile temper, responded with a sweet smile and dropped the subject.

Jai's participation in the conversation outside Dale Head was notably intriguing. Could this be an indication that he might notice Tom's sinister actions?
