Emmerdale's explosive cliffhanger teases possible deaths

Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale's explosive cliffhanger has teased possible death for major characters.

Earlier this week, Moira Dingle and Ruby Fox-Miligan had a violent showdown in the barn where Ruby was knocked out with a blow to the head.

Moira had padlocked the barn door and fired off a warning shot with her rifle, not knowing that the spark had lit a fast-moving flame.

In Wednesday's (September 11) episode, Mackenzie could see smoke coming from the barn in the distance. He grew even more worried when he couldn't contact Moira on the phone.

Mack and his nemesis John Sugden arrived at the burning barn at the same time and tried to get inside. With little luck, Mack desperately called Cain to let him know Moira was trapped.

At the same time, John managed to break a small portion of the barn door so he could crawl in. Mack soon followed, but they became trapped by a falling beam.

Cain and Caleb raced to the scene with their sister Chas, while Will Taylor joined them as they crossed paths along the way.

By the time they got to the barn, John had managed to rescue Ruby. Chas tried to stop Cain from charging into the burning barn to find Moira, but he brushed his sister aside.

Cain eventually found Moira, but she warned him finding a way back out was "hopeless". As Cain worked to clear debris, Moira worried: "We're both going to die!"

The couple tried to flee after covering themselves with a large tarpaulin, but just as they neared the barn door, a massive explosion took place.

"Caaaaaaain!" Chas screamed in horror.

Will anyone survive?

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
