Emmerdale's Fiona Wade to exit as Priya Sharma

Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale star Fiona Wade is going to be leaving the soap.

The actress has played Priya Sharma, and then Kotecha, since 2011, but will be filming her farewell scenes in the upcoming months, ITV has confirmed to Digital Spy.

No details on the nature of her exit storyline are known at this time, but it is believed that the actress wants to pursue other opportunities.

Priya's big storylines across the years have seen her have relationships with multiple characters, battle an eating disorder, and try to regain her confidence after suffering severe burns at the hands of serial killer Meena Jutla.

Multiple Emmerdale stars have departed the soap recently, with the anniversary week seeing Harriet Finch and Liv Dingle killed off, while Faith made the decision to end her own life during a heartbreaking cancer storyline.

Danny Miller, who returned as Aaron for what turned out to be Liv's final storyline, paid tribute to actress Isobel Steele on social media.

"The moment that young girl walked into the room and delivered what was an outstanding performance," he wrote. "Myself and everyone in that very room knew we had a rising star on our hands. Now, she leaves a woman with the world at her feet. My best friend, my little sister, my Liv.
