Emmerdale's Laurel Thomas left regretful after Marshall discovery

Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Tonight's (March 8) episode of Emmerdale saw Laurel Thomas feeling remorseful after revealing the whereabouts of Marshall to his homophobic father Colin.

In an attempt to stop Colin from sending Marshall away to boarding school, Laurel's son Arthur had agreed to help hide Marshall at Rishi Sharma's house, with Rishi believing his home to currently be haunted by a crisp-eating ghost.

While Rishi continued to fixate on the empty crisp packet while speaking with Jai and Laurel at the Bistro, Arthur walked in to steal some snacks for his friend.

Back at the Holgate, Arthur insisted to Marshall that he'll continue to support him. However, the pair are interrupted by Laurel, who had been suspicious about Arthur's absence from school.

Shocked to learn that boys had hidden Marshall's disappearance by forging a letter to the boarding school, Laurel insisted that Marshall tell his father where he is — much to Arthur's pleas otherwise.

Later, Colin arrived at the Bistro and surprised a tearful Marshall by greeting him with a hug and seemingly apologising for his previous actions.

"It seems I have handled this whole situation badly. It was a knee-jerk reaction," he said.

Laurel is convinced by Colin's words. Believing Colin will allow Marshall to return to Hotten Academy, she watches on happily as the pair leave together.

However, her contentment is quickly crushed by Arthur, who later arrived to ask about his friend's whereabouts. Arthur is horrified to learn that Laurel allowed Colin to leave with Marshall.

He tells his mum about the homophobic abuse he received from Colin after his speech at the village hall, then blames her for any future punishments that Marshall may face.

While Jai attempts to smooth over the situation, a horrified Laurel begins to realise that her actions may have serious consequences.

"I think I've made a huge mistake," she said.

What will happen to Marshall now?
