Emmerdale actor Michael Parr is reportedly ‘fed up’ of the soap’s storylines and may quit acting entirely.

Parr, who has played Ross Barton on the nothen soap for five years, is on the verge of leaving the Dales and packing in his acting career in favour of something else, if show insiders are to be believed.

According to a source at the Sun, Parr, 31, hates what’s going on with his characer and plotline: ‘Mike has told anyone who will listen how much he hated his storylines and what bosses had done with his character.’

‘He particularly hated the make-up he had to wear for the acid attack storyline. He’s been fed up for ages and has finally told bosses he’s off.’

Casting series producer Kate Brooks said that the actor won’t be renewing his contract once the current one ends, meaning writers can devise all sorts of shocking twists and turns that lead to his eventual (and hopefully explosive) exit.

‘Michael, who is nominated for Best Actor at the British Soap Awards next month, will leave the show on a high after brilliantly portraying Ross for five years,’ she said.

It’s also rumoured that he may change careers altogether, with one suggesting that the star may turn to MMA which he is a keen admirer of the sport.

During his few years on the show, he’s been involved in a variety of scandal, fatherhood, and some dodginess that led to the deaths of Gary North and friend Donna Windsor.

Recently, the character has been at the centre of a cowardly acid attack storyline, whereby he had the corrosive liquid thrown in his face one dark night.

Parr has previously won Best Actor, Best Bad Boy, and Sexiest Male at the Inside Soap Awards and is nominated for the Best Actor gong at the forthcoming British Soap Awards, for his current portayal of Ross.
