Yahoo News Emmerdale's 'recipe for disaster' forbidden romance sees betrayal which could destroy legendary family
An Emmerdale family risks being ripped apart because of a betrayal connected to a potentially forbidden romance.
As Emmerdale fans have speculated about online, there’s been hints of a potential blossoming relationship between village favourite Aaron Dingle, played by Danny Miller, and newcomer John Sugden - who is portrayed in the ITV soap by Oliver Farnworth.
As viewers know, John is Victoria Sugden’s long-lost half-brother who has recently arrived in the village. Although, the new character hasn’t been greatly interested in the famous soap history of the Sugden family.

As spoilers reveal, Victoria will show John old family photos but is annoyed when John ignores her and is glued to his phone. Feeling neglected, Victoria snaps and snatches John’s phone off him. She is shocked to find he’s been texting Aaron. Still reeling from her discovery, Victoria questions John about his secret love affair.
Isabel Hodgins, who plays Victoria in Emmerdale, spoke about the storyline during an appearance at a virtual press conference. Discussing John and his time in the village, Isabel said: “He really doesn’t care. He’s staying in the village until he can drive off when his van is fixed. His life revolves around that van. He doesn’t care about the Sugdens.”
Emmerdale fans will see Victoria try to encourage John in upcoming scenes. This then leads to Victoria’s discovery about John and Aaron - particularly poignant given the latter’s previous relationship with Victoria’s brother Robert Sugden.

Isabel said: “I think she’s shocked as she’s now got this relationship with Aaron where it is back to Victoria and Aaron rather than Aaron being with Robert. So, first and foremost at the minute, he’s her friend. So, there’s a sense of betrayal there with a feeling of ‘how could he be doing this when he’s my friend?’.”
There’s a potential that this could destroy what is left of the Sugden legacy in the village. Victoria is seen to get more and more frustrated by John’s guarded behaviour.
Isabel added: “Her whole reasoning is that Aaron has been involved with Robert and he’s a bit of a liability. If they continue to see each other and it goes wrong John is going to leave. He’s going to leave the village and that’s why she’s so bothered.”
Although, later in the conversation, the acting star was asked whether she thought her character Victoria would be accepting of a legitimate romance between John and Aaron. Isabel explained: “I think so. She wanted people to accept her and Jacob after being with David. So, it would be a bit hypocritical of her to not give that relationship a chance if she saw they were both happy and it worked.”
Isabel concluded: “She wouldn’t want either of them to get hurt. You can tell because of the way John is there’s a bit of emotional baggage there. She obviously knows everything that Aaron has been through. So, it could be a recipe for disaster or it could potentially work.”
