Emmerdale's Dean Andrews, who plays Will Taylor, has opened up about playing the character – admitting he feels it's a compliment when people on the streets boo him.

Will's debut on the soap has seem him exert some pretty villainous behaviour, not least terrorising his ex Harriet Finch as revenge for getting him sent to prison.

Appearing on today's (May 15) Loose Women, Dean talked about being booed on the streets, despite him only playing a character.

"I think we kind of hope we made them believe," he said, before Stacey Solomon asked if he felt it was a compliment.

"I think so, most kind of hard guys or actors, they're not kind of like they are in real life. So if you make an audience believe that you're not a nice fella and you can do some damage or whatever, you've done your job right."

Will and Harriet's storyline will come to a head this week as he tries to crush her with a coffin in the church, though Dean has previously said he hopes to have a long-term future in the village.

"I'd love to stick around and have 43 affairs and have 12 kids and end up owning the café!" he said. "I just hope that Will gets some nice things to do. I hope he sticks around.

"If they don't feel like he's going to stick around then I'll be back on the job market. There's lots that could be played out – I could end up marrying Harriet! I don't know."

Emmerdale airs on ITV.
