Emmys 2018 best dressed: Thandie Newton, Jessica Biel and Michelle Dockery lead with the dreamiest dresses

The world's biggest stars gathered at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles for the Emmy Awards on Monday night.

The annual ceremony, which celebrates talent on our television screens, not only saw our favourite actors and actresses take to the red carpet, but also some truly stunning dresses.

Frothy gowns seemed to be a favourite on the night. Godless actress Michelle Dockery and Joey King of The Kissing Booth fame opted for princess-worthy tulle numbers, while Penelope Cruz from The Assassination of Gianni Versace and Sarah Paulson, who was nominated for an Emmy for American Horror Story: Cult, channelled old Hollywood glamour in feather-detailed gowns by Chanel and Oscar de la Renta respectively.

It was Black-ish actress Tracee Ellis Ross, though, who wore the most eye-catching look of the night in a billowing hot pink gown by Valentino.

Indeed, pink proved to be a popular hue, as Westworld star Thandie Newton stunned in similarly coloured dress by Brandon Maxwell, while Millie Bobby Brown opted for a subtler baby pink number by Calvin Klein.

Sleek white designs also ruled the red carpet as Jessica Biel, Scarlett Johansson, Claire Foy and Kristen Bell opted for minimal and chic silhouettes.
