Emmylou Harris On Hit-And-Run Charge

US country singer Emmylou Harris has been charged with a misdemeanour hit-and-run offence after an accident last year.

The Grammy-winning singer was charged by Los Angeles prosecutors for failing to exchange details with a driver whose car she allegedly hit on October 1, 2012.

The incident is said to have happened on Interstate 405 in Los Angeles.

However, a criminal complaint filed in Beverly Hills did not contain any additional details or describe how much damaged occurred.

The 65-year-old has won multiple awards and since her career began in 1969 has collaborated with the stars such as Bob Dylan, Dolly Parton and Roy Orbison.

She was also inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2008 and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2009.

A publicist for the singer has yet to respond to the charges.
