Empire State Building Lights Up for Yankees Star Aaron Judge

New York City’s Empire State Building was lit up in blue and white on Tuesday, October 4, after New York Yankees star Aaron Judge hit his 62nd home run of the season, breaking an American League record set in 1961 by Yankees player Roger Maris.

Judge scored the record-breaking run during a game against the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.

The sparkling blue and white stripes were intended to resemble the pinstriped uniforms worn by the Yankees, according to the building’s management. The sparkles lasted for 62 seconds — one second for each of Judge’s homers — they said. Credit: Empire State Realty Trust via Storyful
