'End of an era': Bruce Forsyth's daughter closing beloved Acton gift shop after 15 years
A popular gift shop in Acton is set to close its doors for the final time in late January. Owner Laura Forsyth, the daughter of late Strictly Come Dancing presenter Bruce, has run The Village Trading Store on Churchfield Road since 2009.
She has now decided to call it a day and shut the business whilst its on a 'high'. Taking to social media to make the sad announcement, Laura said: "The end of an era...My lease is almost up and I have decided not to renew, so it is time to say goodbye to the Orange store on Churchfield Road.
"This decision is not with a heavy heart, I have had many wonderful memories. Even through uncertain times, I have kept smiling, celebrating the friendship and loyalty of our amazing customers, particularly during the pandemic when your loyalty kept us going.

It will remain open over the Christmas period before closing at the end of January. Laura will continue to sell products on the shop's website and at pop-up stalls.
Known for its eclectic mix of homeware, jewellery, vintage clothing and colourful furniture, The Village Trading Store has long been a favourite of those in West London. The news of its closure has left many customers 'heartbroken'.
One said: "The Village Trading Store is an institution in Acton. So many wonderful and unique gifts I bought and the kids always loved coming into the shop.
"It will be a true loss for Churchfield Road. Thank you for all you have done and offered for the community."
Another added: "Awh that is sad news, I loved going in and browsing. I hope your shop is used for something similar going forward," whilst a third wrote: "Oh no! I'm really sorry to hear you are closing. Definitely a loss for Acton and Churchfield Road."
This is the second long-standing business Acton has lost in recent weeks. Family-run bike shop Woolsey Cycles served its final customers on September 28 after nearly 70 years on Acton Lane. The owners have not revealed their reasons for closing but declared online that it was 'time to move onto pastures new'.
