A city centre pub that was a favourite with students, sports fans and gig goers has apparently closed for the final time.

The Hall Bar, which is found at the top end of Sauchiehall Street, gained a bit of a cult following thanks to its value offering, live sports on screens and spacious seating area.

However, fans were saddened to hear it is closing after the current team who regularly pull pints behind the bar took to social media to thank fans for the final time.

Posting an image of staff outside the front of the bar on Sunday (June 2), they wrote: "It’s been a pleasure Sauchiehall Street thanks for being sound to us goodbye."

The pub is now reported as "permanently closed" on Google, Glasgow Live has contacted the owners but at the time of writing has yet to receive a response.

Devastated fans flocked to the comments to thank the staff and share their love for the bar itself.

One wrote: "Best place in Glasgow, had so many good nights in there. All the best team"

While another added: "Over 20 years of memories. Wish all the staff all the best and thank you."
