End of an era as last Dalbeattie Hardrock Challenge to take place
It will be the end of an era in Dalbeattie this weekend.
The Dalbeattie Hardrock Challenge is taking place on Saturday and Sunday – and it’s the last one ever under the original committee featuring Andy Webster and Stuart Macintosh.
The event may return in a new format in the future but this year’s version is definitely a landmark event.

The main event takes place on Saturday, competitors tackling a 10 mile run through Dalbeattie Forest followed by 16 miles on the bike on the 7Stanes red trail.
The race will start at 11am, with the Richorn Trailhead Car park acting as start, bike change over and finish point.
When parking at the trailhead is full, access will be opposite Little Richorn Farm as for the forest lodges. There will be no access past the turn into the field except for chalet owners.
Saturday will see the junior Hardrock Challenge, with course for eight to 11-year-olds and 12 to 15-year-olds. The action starts at 11am.
