Following their night of passion, it looks like EastEnders' Ben Mitchell and Johnny Carter have decided to stay friends.

The unlikely pair were at a house party thrown by Ben to celebrate his 21st birthday during the first episode of tonight's (March 21) double bill, and surprised everyone by ending up in bed together at the end of the episode.

However, tonight's second instalment saw both characters feeling awkward about their hook-up the morning after, as neither wanted to pursue a relationship with the other. Cringe.

After working themselves up in preparation for revealing their feelings, the boys were relieved to find neither of them wanted to take things further.

So, instead of sealing the deal on a relationship, they decided to get up to mischief instead, by running around Walford nicking signs and traffic cones.

While Ben and Johnny were glad to leave their night of passion behind them, some viewers were disappointed the pair would not become a thing.

So disappointed, in fact, that they wasted no time in taking to Twitter to vent their hopes, disappointments and ultimate frustration about the very, very, very short-lived romance.

EastEnders airs weekdays on BBC One.
