Energy price cap to update every 3 months as households face £3700 gas and electric bills

The energy price cap will update every three months, it was announced on Thursday, as household bills are expected to hit almost £4,000 next year.Regulator Ofgem confirmed the maximum unit rate companies can charge for gas and electric will be updated quarterly, rather than every six months.It warned customers face a "very challenging winter ahead" with the cap predicted to rise to £3,359 per year from October for the average home, and not falling below that level until at least the end of next year.
