Enfield Council approves Tottenham's plans to build environmental centre and nature reserve at training ground

Tottenham's plans to build a new education and environmental facility have been approved by Enfield Council.

Spurs unveiled the scheme in March, with the proposed development set to be built on a site adjacent to the Premier League club's training ground incorporating Dickenson’s Trough Meadow.

The purpose-built education facility will feature classrooms and outdoor teaching space while a nature reserve is set to include boardwalks and wildflower walks.

A multi-use sports pitch will also be part of the project, which is set to build on the more than 43,000 hours of sport, coaching and education Tottenham Hotspur Foundation's has delivered across Enfield since it began over six years ago.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy said: “The location of the club’s Training Centre has provided us with an unrivalled and unique opportunity to deliver something truly outstanding for the young people of Enfield.

“Through our section 106 commitments in Enfield, our Training Centre has already been able to play an important role locally through the hosting of sport and educational projects alongside a comprehensive programme of outreach work.

"This facility represents a sustainable long-term investment into the next generation and will provide facilities for children to learn in a fun, high quality and natural environment that can remain part of the borough for years to come.”

The club is also in the process of building a new 61,559 capacity stadium, which is hoped will propel Mauricio Pochettino's side into Europe's elite.

Spurs plan to move into their new home ahead of the 2018-19 season and will play their home fixtures at Wembley next season to allow construction work to progress.

Meanwhile, the demolition of White Hart Lane has already started in the wake of Spurs' final game at the stadium.
