After 21 years of sparking creativity, the Engine Room just got a turbo boost. The mayor of Bridgwater, Councillor Jacqui Solomon, officially opened the Engine Room 3.0 on Thursday, September 12, following its transformation, thanks in part to Bridgwater Town Deal funding.

The event also celebrated The Engine Room’s 21st Anniversary, marking over two decades of fostering creativity and community engagement.

The Engine Room has been a cornerstone of Bridgwater’s cultural landscape, providing a platform for local artists, filmmakers, and community members to collaborate and create. The recent upgrades are set to further enhance its role as a hub for innovation and artistic expression.

The extensive renovations have revitalised The Engine Room, enhancing its facilities to better serve the community. The upgraded space now includes state-of-the-art equipment, improved accessibility, and modernised areas for workshops, exhibitions, and performances.

Cllr Solomon said: “Congratulations on 21 years of great input to the world of film. A county-wide film project with its feet firmly in Bridgwater. The new refurbishment not only makes the whole building accessible and useful but also ensures its future for the next 21 years.

“Massive thanks to all the agencies involved and the dedicated staff that have ensured the future of this project.”
