An engineering firm has opened it facility in Middlesbrough and created 50 new jobs.

Tulway opened the new 70,000 sq ft facility at Skippers Lane Industrial Estate, Middlesbrough, providing opportunities in roles, including engineering, project management, and skilled trades, say bosses.

The site also includes 12,000ft of office space and five advanced fabrication bays equipped with eight overhead cranes for use in fabrication and installation services, particularly in the fields of high-integrity pipework, steelwork, and mechanical equipment.

"This new facility is more than just an expansion - it’s a gateway to new opportunities," said Kevin Tully, MD of the firm. "By broadening our capacity, we're now able to enter new markets, including the renewable energy, CCUS, sustainable aviation fuel and nuclear sectors, while continuing to support our long-standing clients."

Tulway's new facility is equipped with a technology called Weldeye system for weld monitoring, making it one of a handful of fabricators in the UK to offer this, and also pipe bevelling machinery.

Kevin added: "With this expansion, Tulway is strategically positioned to support emerging industries such as Net Zero Teesside and sustainable aviation fuel technology. These sectors represent critical steps in the UK's journey toward a greener future, and Tulway is proud to contribute its engineering expertise to these transformative initiatives.”

The firm says the new facility has been designed to reduce carbon emissions and energy consumption.

Tulway's expansion into Teesside is part of "a broader strategy to future-proof its operations and remain a leader in high-integrity engineering solutions", say bosses. And the company reveals it has forward orders of over £10m and a growing client base.

"This is an exciting chapter for Tulway," added Kevin. "Our investment in this facility demonstrates our confidence in the industry, our commitment to our clients, and our dedication to driving innovation and sustainability in engineering."

Tees Valley Mayor, Ben Houchen, who opened the site said: "This new facility is a fantastic step forward for Tulway and a huge win for Teesside’s growing reputation as the UK’s centre for high-quality manufacturing and engineering.

"This investment and stamp of confidence in our region comes directly off the back of securing Net Zero Teesside, bp’s £6bn project. I have always said that making sure local businesses benefit from the massive investment we are attracting is my priority and that is exactly what is happening here. In securing this work, Tulway are expanding their operation and creating 50 new jobs for local people. This is fantastic news and exactly what we are trying to achieve.

“I look forward to seeing their continued success in the years to come.”
