England will face Italy in the 2022 Nations League - in a rematch of their Euro 2020 final.

Germany and Hungary are also in Group A3 for the Three Lions’ campaign, with the winner through to the final round and fourth-placed side relegated to the second-tier.

Italy came out on top in a penalty shootout at Wembley to lift the Euros trophy in the summer.

Earlier in the competition, Raheem Sterling and Harry Kane put Gareth Southgate’s side in the final four with a 2-0 victory over Germany, their first competitive win over Die Mannschaft since the 1966 World Cup.

The Three Lions’ last trip to Hungary was marred by racist abuse aimed at visiting players in Budapest, while Hungarian fans fought stewards and police during a 1-1 draw at Wembley in World Cup qualification.

Wales, promoted to the top-tier in the last edition of the Nations League, have been drawn against the Netherlands, Poland and Belgium in A4 with holders France up against Austria, Croatia and Denmark.

Portugal and Spain will meet in the final top-tier group, along with Switzerland and Czech Republic. In the second-tier, Scotland and the Republic of Ireland are both in Group B1, with Ukraine and Armenia.

The first four matchdays are scheduled for June 2022 before a final pair of matches for each team in late September. The semi-finals and final will take place in June 2023.

The top 12 Nations League teams that do not automatically qualify for Euro 2024 will have the chance to compete for the final three places in the tournament via a play-off.
