Enzo Maresca is now a huge odds-on favourite to replace Mauricio Pochettino as manager of Chelsea.

In what would be an extraordinary move for such an inexperienced team boss, the Leicester City head coach has soared ahead in the latest betting to take over at Stamford Bridge, listed as a red-hot 1/20 by Sky Bet.

It was only a year ago that Maresca was handed his first senior managerial role, and the former Manchester City assistant boss responded by leading the Foxes to the Championship title. But now he looks to be on the brink of an altogether more challenging task, leading Chelsea back to their glory days.

The Blues have not won the Premier League since 2016, when Antonio Conte was manager. He has since been followed by Maurizio Sarri, Frank Lampard, Thomas Tuchel, who won the Champions League with the Blues, Graham Potter and then Pochettino after a second interim spell by club legend Lampard.

Of the other names listed for the job, second favourite is former Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi, who is list at 14/1, with Brentford boss Thomas Frank next at 20/1, but both of them are miles behind Maresca, who now looks a shoe-in to take over in West London.

According to The Telegraph, Chelsea are said to have requested permission from Leicester to speak to Maresca, with the next big topic for discussion likely to be the compensation the Foxes will receive for their manager.

Latest Chelsea next manager odds

Enzo Maresca - 1/20

Roberto De Zerbi - 14/1

Thomas Frank - 20/1
