Eon makes admission on energy bills and says 'we know'
Energy giant Eon has sent a message to millions of its customers before bills rise in October. Under-pressure households are going to feel more pain when average bills go up by £149 a month.
It also comes as millions of pensioners are set to lose Winter Fuel Payments from the Government. Eon, one of the UK's big energy firms, says it recognises times will be tough for many of its customers this winter.
And it says support will be there for customers struggling to pay their bills. In a message to customers, Eon said: "We're looking out for you.

"We know that times are very difficult at the moment and we're doing whatever we can to help you get through it. We're listening and are here to help you find the support you need."
The firm has urged customers to get in touch if they are struggling with bills. There are a number of options open to them, including debt support.
Eon said: "The Energy Fund helps Eon Next customers who are experiencing financial difficulties and struggling with their energy bills. The Energy Fund offers debt support and energy efficient appliances such as cookers, fridges and washing machines, to replace old or broken models. There are also smaller products available to help keep customers warmer during the colder months."
They added: "Our support with gas and electricity debt can help you to become financially stable and get you back in control of your finances. To be considered for this help, you’ll need to show that you’re committed to being financially stable by making regular payments over a three-month period for your ongoing energy usage."
