Tottenham and Arsenal enjoyed big wins on Sunday as Merseyside rivals Liverpool and Everton were both put to the sword in style.

Mesut Ozil inspired the Gunners to come from behind to earn an important 5-2 win over the 10-man Toffees at Goodison Park, before Harry Kane scored twice as Spurs ran out 4-1 winners at Wembley.

Wayne Rooney put Everton in front with a fine curling effort early on, but Arsenal deservedly got back into the game as goals from Nacho Monreal, Mesut Ozil, Alexandre Lacazette, Aaron Ramsey and Alexis Sanchez sealed all three points for the Gunners on Arsene Wenger's birthday.

Over at Wembley, Kane opened the scoring after just five minutes before Heung-min Son and Dele Alli gave Spurs a commanding half-time lead. Kane added his second shortly after the break as Liverpool's defence struggled all afternoon.

The result sees Arsenal move up to fifth in the table as Spurs stay third, but are now level on points with second-placed Manchester United, while Everton slip into the bottom three and Liverpool drop to ninth.

Manchester City are five points clear at the top of the table after Manchester United’s shock loss at Huddersfield handed Pep Guardiola a golden chance to extend the gap with a 3-0 win over Burnley on Saturday.

Saturday's lunchtime kickoff saw Chelsea come back from 2-1 down against Watford to win 4-2 and move above the Hornets into the top four.

Leicester’s win over Swansea City means that, with West Ham having lost 3-0 to Brighton on Friday night, the pressure is on Slaven Bilic as the Hammers drop into the bottom three.

Bournemouth’s win over Stoke at the Bet365 Stadium meant that regardless of Crystal Palace’s result at Newcastle, where it finished 1-0 to the Magpies, the Eagles would remain bottom of the table.

Southampton rounded off Saturday's games with a 1-0 win over West Brom at St. Mary's thanks to a stunning solo goal from Sofiane Boufal.
