Manchester City and Everton ended off the second round of Premier League games with an entertaining 1-1 draw - in which both teams ended with 10 men.

Wayne Rooney handed Everton the lead with his first-half goal before Kyle Walker was sent off for City on his Etihad Stadium debut.

Pep Guardiola's side battled back after the break, however, and salvaged a point from the match when Raheem Sterling scored with eight minutes left to play.

In a hugely entertaining game, Morgan Schneiderlin was then sent off for a second bookable offence in the 88th minute as City failed to close the gap with league leaders Manchester United, who sit top with six points.

Newly-promoted Huddersfield lie second following their superb start to the season as Guardiola's men sit in fifth and Everton sit in eighth though with the same number of points as City (four).

Paul Pogba was on target as United secure their second straight win of the season away to Swansea.

After thrashing West Ham 4-0 in the opening match of their campaign, United did the same against the Swans with goals from Eric Bailly, Romelu Lukaku, Pogba and Anthony Martial.

Arsenal boasted 77 per cent possession and mustered 18 attempts on goal but still lost 1-0 at Stoke.

Paris Saint-Germain loan signing Jese Rodriguez claimed the winner with a clinical finish after Saido Berahino's through ball.

Sadio Mane cut through home frustrations at Anfield to fire Liverpool to a patchy 1-0 win over Crystal Palace, as Jurgen Klopp's men secured their first victory of the campaign.

Palace remain winless and pointless from their opening two clashes under new boss Frank de Boer.

Charlie Austin's stoppage-time penalty sealed Southampton's 3-2 win over 10-man West Ham at St Mary's.

Saints raced into a two-goal lead, ending their home drought at 556 minutes, as Manolo Gabbiadini and Dusan Tadic found the net.

Marko Arnautovic was red carded for an elbow on Jack Stephens, while former Saints defender Jose Fonte conceded the penalty that allowed Tadic to put the hosts 2-0 to the good.

Italy striker Gabbiadini ended his own nine-match barren run, with the Saints seemingly coasting after two goals and with West Ham reduced to 10 men.

Javier Hernandez poached two goals to level the scores however, and Saints appeared to be heading for a frustrating draw.

But Pablo Zabaleta fouled Maya Yoshida at the death, and Austin dispatched Saints' second spot-kick of the match, to seal the spoils.

Shinji Okazaki and Harry Maguire found the net for Leicester's 2-0 home win over promoted Brighton, whose wait to get off the Premier League mark continues.

Hal Robson-Kanu claimed the winning goal but was later sent off as 10-man West Brom edged home 1-0 at Burnley.

Brazilian striker Richarlison struck his first Premier League goal as Watford ground past Bournemouth 2-0 at Dean Court.

The summer signing from Fluminense converted Andre Gray's cross for Watford's first goal, before Etienne Capoue sealed the Hornets' win with a late 25-yard strike.
