Manchester United succumbed to a shock 3-2 defeat away to Brighton as Chris Hughton’s team ran out deserved winners at the AMEX Stadium.
That result was of huge contrast to the scoreline secured by rivals Manchester City, with Sergio Aguero scored his 13th City hat-trick as the champions thrashed Huddersfield 6-1 at the Etihad Stadium .
Gabriel Jesus and David Silva also struck and Terence Kongolo turned into his own net in a one-sided Premier League encounter.
Huddersfield's only moment of joy came just before half-time when Jon Gorenc Stankovic netted following a long throw-in.
Elsewhere, Second half strikes from skipper Troy Deeney and Will Hughes gave Watford an impressive 3-1 win at Burnley.
Former Burnley forward Andre Gray opened the scoring in the third minute with a superbly taken volley from a fine Deeney cross from the right flank.
Three minutes later, though, Burnley got back on level terms when James Tarkowski rose well at the back post to head in a Johann Berg Gudmundsson corner.
But that was as good as it got for the hosts, who were perhaps experiencing a hangover from Thursday's Europa League qualifier.
The weekend finishes with Brighton vs Manchester United taking place on Sunday, before Crystal Palace vs Liverpool on Monday night.
