Epperston Bypass closed as driver hospitalised after crashing into tree

A bypass has been closed in Nottinghamshire after a driver crashed into a tree. One person was freed from the car by firefighters and taken to hospital after the collision on A6097 Epperston Bypass in Lowdham at around 10.20am on Sunday, May 26.

The busy road was shut in both directions between Epperstone Road and Ton Lane by police, bringing traffic to a standstill. A spokesperson for Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said two fire engines attended the crash.

"There was one person in a car in collision with a tree," they said. "We attended to extricate the person out of the car. They have gone to hospital."

The spokesperson said the scene had been left in the hands of Nottinghamshire Police. Inrix said: "A6097 Epperstone By-pass in both directions closed, stationary traffic due to accident, car hitting tree involved from Epperstone Road to Ton Lane.
