A haphazard driver who borrowed his friend's yellow Mercedes without permission has been put in his place by Erdington police. The male, who also drove the luxury motor without a licence or insurance, had ridiculously argued it was not a crime.

Police said the driver also then didn't put his seatbelt on when he was collected from the scene in another vehicle. Police said the car was seized, while the driver was fined and will receive points on his licence.

Erdington officers shared news of the stop earlier today, Sunday, November 24. PCs Mark & Tom also shared their "top tip" as not how to act following this incident.
