Pop legends are to play the 02 Arena in a huge one-off gig in aid of London’s leading cancer charity.

Eric Clapton, Tom Jones and Bonnie Tyler will lead a host of names taking to the stage and perfoming their greatest hits in aid of The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity next March, it was revealed today.

Music for the Marsden performers will also include Dire Straits’ John Illsley, Paul Jones, Simply Red singer Mick Hucknall and Italian singer, Zucchero.

London-based Procol Harum rocker Gary Brooker, 74, was behind bringing the stars together for the show as its musical director.

Eric Clapton said: “I’ve known Gary Brooker for many years so to have the chance to be back working together, along with other great artists and band mates was one I couldn’t say no to. I am sure it’ll be a fantastic evening providing much needed support for this pioneering hospital.”

Tom Jones said: “It’s such a pleasure to be part of this amazing evening.”

Funds raised from the concert will go towards building The Royal Marsden’s brand new, state of the art cancer treatment and research facility, the Oak Cancer Centre.

Charity managing director, Antonia Dalmahoy, said: “We’re incredibly grateful for these legendary artists giving up their time and performing for this important cause.”
