It’s been a weekend of celebrations for Manchester United after the 2023/24 season ended in silverware.

A 2-1 victory over city rivals Manchester City at Wembley Stadium saw the Reds lift the FA Cup on Saturday afternoon. It was a day not many United fans will forget in a hurry.

But the silverware has not stopped the talk around the future of manager Erik ten Hag, as uncertainty around whether he will be in charge when the 2024/25 season starts still remains. But it’s not just the manager’s future where there has been talk.

The end of the season means that transfer season is now here, with work being done on comings and goings over the off-season. Players continue to be linked with a summer move to Old Trafford. With that in mind, here is a look at some of the latest reports around the club. We’ve also added our own take on the situation.

Man United ‘hold talks’ with two managers

Manchester United have been in talks with the representatives of both Mauricio Pochettino and Thomas Frank over the possibility of taking over at Old Trafford, according to the Telegraph.

Phchettino left Chelsea last week, despite leading the club to a European place on the final day of the Premier League season. He has previously been heavily linked with the management job at United.

Frank is currently in charge of Brentford and is one of four managers said to be on Chelsea's final shortlist as they search for a replacement for Pochettino. The report says that Ten Hag is at ‘serious risk’ of being sacked despite lifting the FA Cup on Saturday.

The key decision makers are said to be conducting a season review where the manager’s fate will be decided. Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna has also been linked with the job.

MENsport says: Erik ten Hag’s future at the club has been uncertain since February with Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s ineos Group understood to have analysed potential replacements for the Dutchman. If winning the FA Cup this weekend has saved his job is still to be seen with the post-season review now taking place.

Pochettino has been heavily linked with the job before the appointment of Ten Hag, so it’s no surprise to see his name crop up again. While Frank and McKenna have both gained an interest from Chelsea, it may potentially prompt United into making a decision.

£60m Branthwaite alternative

Manchester United will make a move for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi if they can’t convince Everton to part ways with Jarred Branthwaite, according to GIVEMESPORT.

United have been monitoring Branthwaite, along with Everton teammate Amadou Onana, for some time. The former has caught the eye with his performances for the Toffees in his debut season.

But Everton could demand a big fee for the player, causing United to turn their attention to other options. That could reportedly be Guehi, who has been included in England’s provisional squad alongside Branthwaite for Euro 2024.

Crystal Palace are said to value the defender at £60 million, the top of United’s transfer budget to spend on defenders this summer. It is thought said that United are hoping to get a reduction on that fee.

MENSport says: If United are unable to get a deal for Brnathwaite at a price that they deem is fair, then moving onto Guehi wouldn’t be a bad second option at all. United would hope to be able to compromise with Palace for the defender.

They could potentially add a player in the deal to try and sweeten the deal for the Eagles. Aaron Wan Bisaka who joined United from Palace is one who could possibly be used.
