Warning: Spoilers for Silicon Valley's season 4 finale lie ahead!

The latest season of Silicon Valley has been put to sleep before it reboots for its fifth season, but it will do so without one major character – or will it?

While last night's (June 25) season finale saw TJ Miller's foul-mouthed wildman investor Erlich Bachman bow out of the series to find himself – and a new life – in Tibet (why not?), executive producer Alec Berg has left the door fairly open for his return.

Chatting to TVLine about TJ's future on the series and how they'll address Erlich's departure, Berg said that it won't be as "simple" as having Erlich enjoying a smoke in a hut somewhere.

"I don't think it's going to be that simple. We start writing the next season on Monday," he said.

"But we've already had some discussions about some potential areas and I think we'll have some fun with Erlich's disappearance."

When asked about the possibility of TJ Miller as a guest star in the next season, Berg kept it pretty coy. "Never say never," he teased. "There's no plan for that right now."

The tech-based comedy announced the departure of one of its most unforgettable characters earlier this year, stating that his exit was a 'mutual' decision.

Silicon Valley, which follows Pied Piper founder Richard (Thomas Middleditch) and his ever-changing tech company, will return to our screens on HBO next year.
