Escape to the Chateau's Dick Strawbridge halts show with warning and begs 'don't'
Escape to the Chateau’s Dick Strawbridge has issued a "don't touch" warning after a glaring blunder. The Channel 4 star has issued a warning to barbers who wish to take on his beard and moustache as he prepares for a UK tour with wife Angel Adoree.
The 68-year-old spoke about how he had been left changed by an incident involving a barber 40 years ago. “My biggest fear going into one of these barbers is you get warned, ‘You don’t touch my moustache, or you lose a finger'," Dick said.
He told Angel on their podcast: “No moustache trimming done by a barber because it happened once and one side of my moustache looked like Hitler…That was 40 years ago and never had anybody touch my moustache since, so the moustache doesn’t get touched.”

He explained: “I can’t have that haircut when they touch your beard and they give you lines. They put a line around the top of it and around your neck and things and it looks like sort of you’re pretending to be groomed and you’ve got a beard, I don’t understand it at all.”
He added: “How often does a chap need his haircut? Well, apparently it’s about once every seven days when we’re on tour. Who cuts their hair every two weeks? When I need a haircut, I need a haircut.” He said: “The thing is, I get my eyebrows done, the hairs in my ears, anywhere hair grows that it shouldn’t do but Angela gets excited with having it all burnt off.
"Angela wanted to video me. He started burning my ears and he bashed my ear with the flames, but he was waiting for you to get the perfect shot and my ear started to get bloody hot!" Escape to the Chateau is available to stream via All 4.
Angel reiterated: "I am just putting this down, that is an exaggeration. It is, we are going to look at that video together. I would never, as you are being set alight, I would never say 'Oh could you just go back I didn’t get it'. It might feel different to you getting your ears burnt."
Joking about how long of a conversation they had had about his beard, Strawbridge quipped: "Anyway did we tell you I got a haircut in Bath?" Strawbridge, his wife Angel Adoree and their children Arthur, 11, and Dorothy, 10, recently visited Bath during the middle block of their tour.
