Escape to the Country buyer 'lost for words' as host shares 'bonus' feature
One Escape to the Country buyer was left speechless when BBC star Steve Brown shared one particular aspect about a home they viewed. During Friday’s show, viewers were introduced to Chris and Albert, who were looking to relocate to Bedfordshire.
At the beginning of the episode, fans discovered the couple were on the hunt for a detached property with three to four bedrooms and a large garden within their £700,000 budget. Kicking off the search, they headed to the village of Tempsford first, which they both had high praise for.
However, it was the second property in Hanslope which left Chris stunned from the start. Before stepping into the Grade II listed home, she commented: “Wow, it’s beautiful!”
She told Steve it was the exact type of thing that they were looking for as they continued their search inside. Exploring the home, Chris and Albert could see the potential of the home as they detailed certain elements they would change.

Although when they went outside, it was the garden which stole their hearts as Steve confessed he had a trick up his sleeve. With Chris’ mother set to move in with the pair eventually, they required an annexe with their new home.
However, this particular home already had a converted outbuilding in the garden, which included a kitchen, bedroom and living area.
Walking inside, she commented: “Ah, this is a very nice surprise. It’s huge! It’s a bit more than what we’re looking for, but it’s brilliant.”
Speaking to Steve at the end of their tour, Chris said: “I think I’m a little bit lost for words at the moment. The house, the three floors, the annexe. The annexe kept giving and giving.
“Then this amazing garden, I love a walled garden. There’s just so much. I’ve always wanted a south-facing garden. That wasn’t actually on the list so it’s like you’ve given me a bonus!”
When it came down to price, Chris believed it was on the market for £710,000, while Albert guessed £750,000. However, Steve revealed it was on the market for £695,000, leaving them both speechless.
Chris commented: “Very encouraged.” Although Steve replied: “That is the most conservative happy I have ever heard!”
As their search continued, Chris and Albert were equally blown away by the third property and mystery home, leaving them with some big decisions to make.
When the trio met together at the end of the episode, the BBC star was keen to know the direction they were going in. Chris commented: "You’ve created a really nice dilemma or a nice problem to have.”
She added: “We’re going to go back and view both of them again. Understand where they are in the process because obviously they are on the market and speak to our financial adviser tomorrow.”
Steve wrapped up the show by giving viewers an update, with Albert returning back in his office, the location was too far North for them to be able to commute easily. At the time of filming their house was on the market and they were waiting for an offer before proceeding further.
