Escape to the Country host issues four-word warning to buyers during search

Escape to the Country's Ginny Buckley had to give two house-hunters a warning during the latest instalment of the BBC show.

On Friday's episode, couple Maria and Bav were looking to relocate to Devon with a budget of £400,000. Wanting a detached property with at least three bedrooms, Ginny lined up some potential for them to see.

The search started strong as they were shown a barn conversion, which, despite not being detached, was a high contender for them. Things continued going well, and the next home in South Brent blew Maria away.

However, Baz was slightly hesitant because the house was located on a main road. After seeing the first two potential properties, Ginny took the couple to Dartmoor to admire the stunning wildlife.

Wanting to know more about their decisions, Ginny said: "We've pushed you out of your comfort zone a bit, have we, Maria?"

Maria replied: "Totally! But we've enjoyed it. I think we probably needed it, and we may have found the property."

Although Ginny warned: "Don't peak too soon! We've got another day of house-hunting tomorrow."

It seemed as though the BBC star's words of warning came to fruition as the third home they saw was an instant win, making both of them slightly emotional.

The semi-detached stone Grade II building in Broadhempston blew them both away, as Maria told the cameras: "I like everything about this property. When we first stood outside, I actually felt quite tearful because it wasn't something that I expected to see within our budget.

"I just like the whole package, and to hear that it's well below our top budget is just even better."

Agreeing, Baz added: "I walked in and I got a really good feel for it."

In the end, the duo told Ginny that they were torn between the home in Broadhempston and the mystery property in Churston Ferrers.

Maria shared: "We're going to stay in the area and check out both localities and then look at second viewings."

As the episode drew to a close, Ginny told viewers: "I'm delighted to report that it was the mystery house that finally won Maria and Baz over. They put an offer in, and we've got everything crossed that things work out for them here in Devon."
