Passing your driving test is always a nerve-wracking feat, and some say that different areas of Essex are more likely to help you succeed. This might be due to factors such as traffic, the amount of roundabouts in the area or lots of road signage confusing new drivers.

There are eight driving centres in Essex, each with a different environment. When it comes to passing, rural areas and smaller towns generally show higher pass rates, according to BookInstructor.

It is generally agreed that quieter roads with simpler layouts seem to favour learner drivers. This is reflected in the Essex test centre that saw the least amount of passes - which is often busy, with some complex junctions and signage.

Law Trucks have created their Driving Test Report, which helped rank test centres in Essex based on their average pass rate over a year period. Out of the eight driving test centres in the county, one saw a lower pass rate than the rest. This test centre was Basildon, which conducted 7,376 tests over the last year. Only 3,349 tests passed - giving a success rate of 45.4%.

Drivers here often complain over the amount of traffic in the area. Driving from the A127 into Basildon - a popular route on driving tests - can also be pretty hectic. However, given that you nearly have a 1 in 2 chance of passing here, your chances of passing are really not that low.
