In the question of whether pet owners in Southend let their animals eat straight from the dinner table, a whopping 30.55% said yes - almost a third of respondents! This is slightly below the UK average, however.
Similarly, many Southend pet owners let their pets sleep in the bed with them. Nearly half of those surveyed do, coming in at 45.2%.
Southend does not spoil pets in the way of buying them designer clothes and goods, though. Only 10.5% do - well below the national average of 19.84%.
The city does, however, treat their pets like people - with many Southend pets having their own Instagram accounts. Pets that have their own accounts go way above the national average in this city, with just under 19% strutting their stuff on social media, compared with the 16% average.
Overall, these findings highlight the diverse ways in which UK pet owners treat their pets, from lavish spending to bedtime habits. It is so cute that one Essex city has been shown to really spoil their pets like children!
