The Essex Christmas market with mulled wine and a funfair that could rival Germany's
Some Essex residents may be travelling to Bavarian districts in Germany to get an authentic Christmas market feel. One Essex city has said that this is not necessary - as it has its own so brilliant that it rivals Bavaria's.
Colchester's Christmas market is taking place on December 8 on the High Street. Roads will be closed to motorists, while the high street is full of stalls and Christmas joy.
There will be plenty of fun things to see and do at the market. There will of course be lots of street food, some inspired by the Bavarian Christmas markets of Germany - but also warm drinks like mulled wine.

There will even be live music and entertainment throughout the evening. Exact timings are yet to be confirmed.
Visit Colchester said on Facebook: "You don't need to hop on a plane to enjoy the Christmas Markets - we've got our own here in Colchester! Say 'auf weidersein' to Germany and 'Hello!' to Colchester, as the Christmas Market is coming to the high street on Sunday December 8.
"The Christmas Market will feature a pedestrianised high street in addition to live music and entertainment. There will of course be mulled wine, street food, gifts, Santa and a funfair!"
