Essex man banned from performing cosmetic surgery after offering 'dangerous' Brazilian butt lift
A man has been banned from performing a high risk cosmetic procedure across Essex after serious concerns were raised. Ricky Sawyer, who offered liquid Brazilian butt lifts, has been given a prohibition order, stopping him from carrying out the cosmetic surgery on customers.
The surgery involves injecting filler into the buttocks, creating a plump curve on the patient’s bottom. Concerns have been raised that these procedures have been dangerous and even life-threatening in some cases.
Epping District Council have warned that these procedures should be undertaken by medical professionals. They said: “The health and wellbeing of our residents is our top priority. Along with other authorities across the UK our investigations into Ricky Sawyer and associated companies remain ongoing.”

The council shared: “We are particularly interested to hear from anyone who has had a BBL procedure performed by Ricky Sawyer after February 1 2024 when our Health and Safety Prohibition Notice was issued. This would be a significantly positive contribution providing evidence that the prohibition notice has been breached and an offence committed.
“Promotions of the procedure by associated companies of Mr Sawyer stating they are now ‘doctor led’ is yet to be formally established. There remains no recognised accredited training for these procedures outside the health care profession. We advise the public not to have surgically invasive procedures performed other than by registered healthcare professionals in registered healthcare facilities.
“Local authority officers now have access to specific guidance [which can be found here] to assist in proactive interventions and reactive investigations across a range of associated dermal filler procedures.”
