Here in Essex we are blessed with some brilliant pubs and restaurants - and we're also lucky enough to have many celebrities call our county home. So when one of those famous faces gives somewhere the celebrity stamp of approval it's a great accolade.

The Green Man in Little Braxted had that stamp after a visit from pop star Olly Murs. The Green Man can be found in Kelvedon Road with the traditional-looking pub restaurant is just a few miles from Witham and Maldon.

In a post shared by The Green Man on Instagram last year, they said: "It was a pleasure to meet and serve our Essex local Olly Murs today for his Sunday roast. [We] look forward to seeing you again soon."

It's website says: "Nestled within the picturesque Essex village of Little Braxted, just a couple of miles from Witham, The Green Man is a delightful local pub and restaurant. Following a refurbishment in 2022, this popular public house has once again become an integral part of community life in the village and is also a tempting destination for a drink and a meal amongst visitors to the area. Little Braxted is surrounded by some pretty beautiful countryside and is a haven for walkers and cyclists and The Green Man provides the ideal pit stop for a rest and refuel.

"The menu features no nonsense pub classics and everything is homemade on the premises. Enjoy delicious homemade pies served with fresh vegetables and mashed potatoes or tuck into generous portions of fresh battered fish and chips with peas and tartare sauce. The Green Man serves a mean steak, cooked to order and to the customer’s liking. A range of real ales and fine wines are available to accompany the meal.

"Beautiful beamed ceilings, log fires and traditional polished wood tables and chairs provide a cosy base from which to have a drink and bite to eat at The Green Man. Outside there is a large beer garden complete with picnic tables which is perfect for al fresco dining during the summertime. The large car park provides ample room for everyone, making The Green Man a good choice for passers-by too. We offer real ales, fine wines and traditional country fayre. We are very pleased to be able to cater for large groups, parties and events, however please contact us in advance to book your table."
