A new council housing estate is being planned on Anglesey. Anglesey County Council's housing service Tai Mon, is proposing to build Maes Mona at Amwlch.

If given the go-ahead it would consist of 10 one-bedroomed flats, three one-bedroomed bungalows, three two-bedroomed bungalows, twelve two-bedroomed houses, eight three-bedroomed houses and four four-bedroomed houses, with gardens and parking spaces - a total of 40 properties.

Residents are being invited to consult over the proposals, with an open day scheduled for Wednesday December 11 between 3pm-6pm, at Amlwch Memorial Hall, where people will have a chance to view the plans and provide feedback. A Tai Mon statement said the council will consider feedback and determine if the plans need to be amended, before a full application is submitted.

The statement added: "A full planning application will be submitted. At this stage there will be another opportunity for any interested parties to express opinions or concerns regarding the proposed development, before the planning committee come to a decision whether or not to approve planning permission for the development."

Anglesey Council's Head of Housing Services, Ned Michael, said: "This proposed social housing project for 40 new affordable homes in Amlwch forms part of our commitment to meeting local housing needs and supporting local people to live in affordable quality homes in their own communities."

"The Council-owned site at Maes Mona is earmarked for housing in the Local Development Plan. Monday saw the start of a 28-day pre-application consultation period which will allow people to share their views to inform the full planning application."

He added, "Our long-term aim is to ensure that Island residents can live in high quality affordable homes."
