EU faces €5 million costs over Le Pen’s fake jobs allegations

The fake jobs scandal involving France’s far-right presidential candidate Marine Le Pen could amount to some five million euros. According to Agence France Press, investigators have unearthed new evidence suggesting 17 other Front National deputies are involved, among them her partner Louis Aliot and FN vice-president Florian Philippot. Le Pen is alleged to have faked her parliamentary expenses to pay her bodyguard and assistant close to 340,000 euros. Earlier this month French prosecutors asked the European parliament to lift Le Pen’s immunity from prosecution.
