EuroMillions ticket holders urged to check numbers after wrong ones sent out
Brits are being urged to double-check their EuroMillions tickets after incorrect winning numbers were initially distributed, leaving a staggering £177 million jackpot unclaimed.
One fortunate UK ticket-holder has hit the jackpot in Tuesday's EuroMillions draw, securing the third-largest National Lottery win in history. Players are being encouraged to verify their tickets after an error added an extra number to the winning combination.
The correct winning numbers are 07, 11, 25, 31, and 40, with Lucky Stars 09 and 12. The winner of this life-changing sum will surpass the net worth of celebrities like former One Direction singer Harry Styles and heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua, both valued at £175 million according to the latest Sunday Times Rich List.

This jackpot ranks just behind the £184 million won by Joe and Jess Thwaite from Gloucester in May 2022 and the £195 million record-breaking prize claimed by an anonymous ticket-holder in July of the same year. Andy Carter, senior winners' adviser at Allwyn, the National Lottery operator, commented: “Wow, it has been a truly incredible night for a single UK ticket-holder who has scooped tonight’s jaw-dropping £177m EuroMillions jackpot!
"The win has landed them a spot on the National Lottery’s Rich List, as they have become the third biggest National Lottery winner of all time! What a wonderful win right before Christmas, and we cannot wait to pay out this amazing prize.”
The initial reporting error, made by the Press Association, has since been corrected.
The National Lottery, which recently celebrated its 30th anniversary, has raised over £50 billion for good causes since its launch on November 19, 1994. Weekly contributions of over £30 million have funded significant projects such as Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, the Eden Project, and iconic films like This Is England .
To date, the Lottery has financed more than 600 films, garnering 551 awards, including 16 Oscars, 128 BAFTAs, and 34 Cannes accolades. The £195 million EuroMillions win remains the biggest in UK history, with the lucky winner opting to stay anonymous—a decision few would question given their newfound wealth.
