When is the Europa League draw? How Arsenal will find out their knockout fixtures and where to watch

With just one round of Europa League Group Stage games left to go, sides will be beginning to look forward to the draw and the knockout stages in Spring.

A number of teams from across the continent have already booked their place in the draw and, with one more round of the Champions League to go, there are still places to be decided for those that will drop down.

The Europa League is a weird and wonderful place, which can often confuse even the best footballing aficionados. However, Standard Sport are on the case to provide everything you need to know about the draw for the knockout round…

Who makes up the draw?

There will be 32 sides in the draw for the first knockout round, divided into two pots.

Pot 1 is made up of the 12 Europa League group winners and the four best third-placed sides dropping down from the Champions League.

Pot 2 is made up from the 12 Europa League group runners-up and the remaining four from the Champions League.

Two sides from the same group, or domestic division, cannot be drawn together.

How are they seeded and what is the benefit?

The teams in Pot 1 are all seeded, meaning they’ll play their second-leg at home.

Who has already booked their place in the knockout rounds?

Villarreal, Lazio, Dynamo Kyiv, Steaua Bucharest, Red Bull Salzburg, Ostersunds, Nice, Real Sociedad, Arsenal and Zenit St Petersburg have already sealed their place in the knockout rounds.

When and where is the draw?

The draw will be held at 12pm GMT on December 11 at Uefa’s headquarters in Switzerland.
