  • Eva Mendes has given fans a rare insight into her relationship with Ryan Gosling.

  • The couple share daughters Esmeralda and Amada.

Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling have remained pretty private about their personal life since meeting on the set of the 2012 film The Place Beyond the Pines.

So it's no surprise the internet is going crazy for the actress' latest interview with Nova 96.9's Fitzy & Wippa radio show, where she opens up on why she wasn't keen on having children before meeting her husband.

When the interviewer asked if she is ready to start acting following a six-year break, she said: 'I am now that [my kids are] getting a bit older, but I really feel like I never want to send the wrong message to young women out there. It's not an either/or situation.'

The 46-year-old gave birth to their first daughter, Esmeralda Amada, six, in 2014, and their second, Amada Lee, four, in April 2016, and went on to reveal why she didn't have children in her early career.

'I was lucky enough to work my bum off for 20 years,' she explained. 'I never wanted babies before until I fell in love with Ryan, and it kind of worked out to where I was 40 and having my first baby. I think I was 42 for the second one, so it worked out in that way that I had a career and then I change my focus to my family.'

Back in April, Eva opened up on why she didn't post about her immediate family online.

'I have always had a clear boundary when it comes to my man and my kids. I’ll talk about them of course, with limits, but I won’t post pictures of our daily life. And since my children are still so little and don’t understand what posting their image really means, I don’t have their consent,' she wrote to a fan on Instagram.

'And I won’t post their image until they’re old enough to give me consent. As far as Ryan and I, it just works for us this way, To stay private. ❤️sending loads of love to you at this time.'

Meanwhile, during Ryan's Golden Globes Best Actor win for La La Land in January 2017, the actor touched upon Eva's constant support.

'I would like to try and thank one person properly and say that while I was singing and dancing and playing piano and having one of the best experiences I've ever had on a film, my lady was raising our daughter, pregnant with our second and trying to help her brother fight his battle with cancer,' he said.

'If she hadn't taken all that on so that I could have this experience, it would surely be someone else up here other than me today. So, sweetheart, thank you. To my daughters, Amada and Esmeralda, I love you.'

Cute.
