In the comments section, The Place Beyond the Pines actress’ followers offered a mixed response, writing things like, “elbows are absolutely ridiculous” and “is there such a thing as a pretty elbow?”
One person commented, “And my knees 😂,” prompting Mendes — the queen of Instagram replies — to say, “Oh don’t get me started on the knees 😂.”
“That’s my next post ♥️,” she joked.
Some fans responded to other aspects of the post, like Mendes' Gucci purse, which received a “Love the bag! ❤️” from Salma Hayek.

Perhaps the most relatable part of Mendes’ online persona of all is her love of Ryan Gosling — who doubles as both her “man” and the internet’s.
Most recently, the actress took to Instagram to praise her partner of over a decade for his Barbie Oscar nomination.
On Wednesday, alongside screenshots of news articles doubting Gosling’s ability to play Ken when the first look at the movie was released in June 2022, she wrote, "So proud of my man. So much hate when he took on this role. So many people trying to shame him for doing it."
"Despite all the #Notmyken ridicule and articles written about him, he created this completely original, hilarious, heartbreaking, now iconic character and took it all the way to Oscars," she wrote, adding: "So beyond proud to be this Ken’s Barbie 💕."
