Behchokǫ̀ has lifted the evacuation notice for Edzo as the wildfire near the N.W.T. community is considered under control.

The evacuation notice was meant to put people on alert in case the fire triggered an emergency.

A notice from the Behchokǫ̀ community government says it lifted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.

It states that the N.W.T. department of Environment and Climate Change will still be doing emergency operations in the area for four or five days to make sure it's safe and take care of residual fire risks.

It suggests residents stay vigilant and cautious while that's happening.
