All the events cancelled due to Storm Darragh across Greater Manchester and North West this weekend
Greater Manchester is bracing for a difficult weekend after the Met Office issued warnings amid Storm Darragh. Yellow and amber warnings are in place over the next couple of days across the North West, with a rare red warning cover parts of south west England and Wales.
Disruptions are expected, with the Met Office warning that there is a 'slight chance' that power cuts will occur and that the high winds may cause 'injuries and danger to life'. Thursday evening saw widespread travel disruption across the region due to heavy rain and strong winds.
Flood alerts are currently in place, including along a long stretch of the River Irwell as it moves through Bury and Radcliffe. An alert is also in place for the River Roch as it passes through the centre of Rochdale.

Warnings indicate that Storm Darragh is likely to hit the UK including Greater Manchester from Friday evening and into Saturday morning. There are warnings in place across the weekend, with the most severe affecting Saturday from 3pm to 9pm.
The warnings continue into Sunday, with the Met Office warning people of a number of dangers. These include the possibility of road and bridge closures due to "impacts from falling trees".
With the warnings placed over the region, many events that were scheduled to take place over the weekend have been cancelled with organisers prioritising the safety of staff and visitors.
