Everton stormed past 10-man West Bromwich Albion 5-2 in the Premier League on Saturday as they made it two impressive wins from their opening two games this season.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side, who beat Tottenham at White Hart Lane last week, fell behind after 10 minutes at Goodison Park as new Baggies signing Grady Diangana ran all the way from his own half to slot past Jordan Pickford, but the home team soon responded.

Calvert-Lewin struck shortly after the half-hour mark before new boy James Rodriguez whipped a wonderful left-footed finish into the bottom corner on the stroke of half-time.

Seconds later, Kieran Gibbs was sent off for violent conduct against the Colombia international when the defender appeared to swipe at James, and Slaven Bilic’s remonstrations saw him red-carded as well.

West Brom, against the odds, equalised just two minutes into the second half, however, when Matheus Pereira netted, but two goals from Calvert-Lewin either side of a Michael Keane finish completed the striker’s hat-trick and put the result beyond doubt.

It was a second consecutive loss for West Brom, who were comfortably beaten 3-0 by Leicester on the opening weekend.
