Everton warned over potential Sean Dyche exit as 'obvious' replacement named
Ally McCoist believes there is an 'obvious' replacement for Sean Dyche if he was to leave Everton. But the former Scotland forward does not think the Blues should move on from their current manager yet.
Everton have endured a torrid start to the new campaign, with three defeats from three leaving them bottom of the Premier League table.
Dyche's tenure arguably sunk to a new nadir on Saturday, as the Blues somehow lost 3-2 to Bournemouth despite being 2-0 up in the 86th minute.
With just five wins in their last 25 top flight matches, some pressure is beginning to build on Dyche from frustrated sections of the Everton fanbase. Speaking on TalkSport, McCoist identified David Moyes as a natural successor to the current manager, but stressed that it would be too early to make a change.
"There’s always people that would go there [Everton] and I don't care what anyone says, for obvious reasons the obvious choice would be David Moyes," he said.
"Moyes has done a fantastic job with Everton in the past but at this moment in time, it’s not the most attractive job but to think people wouldn’t take it is completely wrong.
"There would be a list the length of your arm that would take it and certainly one that would fit the bill from Everton’s point of view would without doubt be David Moyes but I don’t see it happening."
Moyes spent 11 years at Everton between 2002 and 2013, helping to build the Blues from relegation strugglers into regular European challengers.
The Scot is currently out of work after a five-year stint at West Ham United, during which he guided the team to the Europa Conference League title, a Europa League semi-final and a record Premier League points total.
Dyche has been at Everton since January 2023 and his contract with the club is set to expire at the end of the campaign.
